Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Landover Hills is in Maryland, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Landover Hills is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Maryland's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

they are small and mighty. The selection of plants is astounding and of high quality. I have also found they are one of a few places in the area to consistently carry the type of shredded hardwood bark mulch that I like.

LOVE. THIS. PLACE. It’s not a secret I want hidden. I want them to stay in business and employee the wonderful employees they have! Better, more well nourished, healthier plants. Cheaper than anywhere else. Example: I went to merrifiedl garden center after work and was aghast at how more expensive everything was. Support local!!

This morning we experienced something at Hampton Nursery that we have never experienced before. While we appreciate help when it’s offered, we did not appreciate being followed around and watched while shopping by one of the male workers. Over the years, we have spent hundreds of dollars at Hampton Nursery and have always enjoyed doing business there. However, after we paid for our items and were walking to our car, we were approached (by the male) and asked if we had paid. We found this very offensive and embarrassing. To make matters worse, the lady who rang us up came outside with a very unprofessional customer service attitude. Mr. Frank has always been pleasant to do business with, but we will NOT continue to patronize any business where customers are treated this way. We wanted to make you aware of this experience because it was extremely disappointing.

The only nursery that carries professional nutrients like JR Peter's, JACK'S PRO 20-20-20. Personally. a MUST Brand(their product line) if you want a successful yeld... Hampton has some hard to find growing "secrets " that Home Depo or Lowes just do not carry. It's a no nonsense, ain't got the time "Pro-shop" for landscapers & real enthusiasts that go to get what some manufacturers only sell to nurseries. In fact since the closing of Behnkie's on Rt 1😩in 2019 after 89 yrs...& some others independent nurseries & Lilly pond suppliers...so many great ones gone, that one has to find specialty plants & supplies shipped... So, please support the few we still have where you can touch, feel, smell, examine, ask, score & bring home... nursery. Happy Growing!
